After two days of meetings with Forest Service and BLM, I have reached a conclusion that recreation is on the cusp of being the big industry with a stake in federal land management policy.
In competition is renewable energy. At stake is access to public lands.
While one contingent pushes for wilderness, another pushes for open access.
Interesting, in that renewable energy is seeking access to public lands while the closure advocates seek to lock public lands out of renewable energy development.
Many of the players supporting renewable energy are that same ones opposing solar and wind energy projects on public lands in the southern California desert.
The drama continues.....
