Aussie Trail Voters Elect New Prime Minister

OHV plays important part in Australian election

TPAC was formed in 2011 to give OHV voters a voice in federal elections. Because of your efforts in 2012, a number of pro-trail candidates were elected to the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives where they are working hard to champion policies that support responsible OHV use on public lands.

As TPAC prepares for the 2014 midterm elections, our OHV friends in Australia played an important part in this weekend's past election of Tony Abbott as their new prime minister. Abbott's Liberal-National Coalition (comprised of various "outdoor" special interests including OHV) triumphed over Kevin Rudd's Labor Party (supported by environmental/green groups) on Saturday night.

Abbott ran on several planks that included streamlining the environmental review process and developing balanced science-based and results-oriented conservation projects that address real issues vs. the agenda-driven and politically-motivated preservation efforts of Rudd's administration.

One example of OHV voters being actively engaged in Abbott's victory is the Australian Motoring Enthusiast Party (AMEP). That group has a policy which states that OHV ... "is a legitimate form of recreation, requiring safe, responsible, sustainable and equitable access to public land. This access also needs to be balanced with the rights of other land users."

TPAC simply wanted to bring this story to your attention to help encourage OHV voters and TPAC supporters here in the USA that we can and will make a difference in our national elections. Just as AMEP members worked hard for their issues, trail voters here must do the same if we want to see common sense regulatory reforms and pro-access policies championed and passed in Congress.

Donate $20, $50, $100, $200, $300-$5,000 to support key TPAC trail candidates in 2014

Thanks for your support and for being engaged in the political process.
